Preliminary Sessions to Take Place on November 6, 2024

Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation is thrilled to announce that the preliminary sessions of the 5th Africa Tourism Day and the 2nd Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum (ATCAF) 2024 will be held at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on November 6, 2024. Themed “Repositioning Women for the Next Frontier of Sustainable Tourism and Climate Action,” these sessions will set the stage for the main events from November 25-28, 2024, in Ekiti and Osun States, Nigeria.

The pre-sessions aim to bring together global stakeholders in tourism, climate action, and sustainability to discuss Africa’s tourism sector in the context of climate change, with a special emphasis on women’s leadership and inclusion. The forum will explore critical issues and opportunities to empower women in the climate action and sustainable tourism sectors, aligning with Africa’s aspirations for a greener and more resilient future.

ATCAF 2024 will include a comprehensive conference on sustainable tourism and climate action, with a focus on training and honoring 150 women across Africa who have pioneered change, driven innovation, and contributed significantly to climate and tourism initiatives. With at least three women nominated from each of Africa’s 55 countries, this event is a significant call for increased women’s inclusion, leadership, and empowerment in sustainable development. Attendees will engage in workshops and training on sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, creative industries, waste management, tourism, and more.

Key Objectives of ATCAF 2024:

-To celebrate the role of women in climate action and sustainable tourism, highlighting their impactful achievements across Africa.
-To advocate for gender-inclusive policies that foster greater women’s inclusion and empowerment and raising their leadership and voices.
-To promote empowerment and resource accessibility for women, accelerating Africa’s green development and its journey toward net-zero emissions.
