As the world celebrates the International Day of Biodiversity today, May 22, Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation joins the global community in raising awareness and advocating for the protection and preservation of biodiversity recognizing the vital role it plays in maintaining the health of our planet and its inhabitants.
This year’s theme, “Be Part of the Plan,” emphasizes the crucial role everyone plays in halting and reversing biodiversity loss.
Biodiversity is the living fabric of our planet. It is essential for human well-being, providing us with food, shelter, medicine, and critical ecosystem services such as pollination, water purification, soil formation and climate regulation. However, human activities are driving biodiversity loss at an unprecedented rate with up to 1 million species facing extinction due to habitat destruction, pollution and climate change. The latest Global Assessment by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) highlights this alarming trend but also stresses that it is not too late to act. Solutions exist, and collective action can make a difference.
Sayari Dunia’s Commitment to Biodiversity and Sustainability
Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation is dedicated to promoting climate action, sustainability, sustainable tourism, and biodiversity conservation. This framework provides a roadmap for global cooperation and partnerships to protect biodiversity and ensure a sustainable future for all.
