(Ado Ekiti, 10th November, 2024) – The Africa Tourism Day and ATCAF 2024 International Organizing Committee would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Africa Celebrates for hosting the pre-session of Africa Tourism Day and Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum.
The pre-session which held on 8th of November 2024 at the Nelson Mandela Hall at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, set the tone for the main event, bringing together stakeholders to discuss sustainable tourism and climate action. ‘Africa Celebrates’ dedication to promoting African culture, trade and heritage makes for an ideal partner for this initiative.
“We are thrilled to have featured during Africa Celebrates 2024,” said Dr. Abigail Olagbaye, founder of Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation and Chairperson of the Africa Tourism Day – ATCAF 2024 International Organizing Committee. “The passion for African culture and commitment to excellence on the part of Africa Celebrates has made this pre-session a resounding success.”
The pre-session featured global tourism expert and Seychelles tourism minister who addressed the forum in a keynote. The event laid the groundwork for the main Africa Tourism Day and Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum, which will take place on the 26th -28th of November, 2024 in Ekiti state, Nigeria.
“We appreciate the tireless efforts of the Africa Celebrates team,” added Amb. Emmanuel Frimpong, founding President Africa Tourism Research Network ATRN and a member of the ATD ATCAF IOC. “Their support has been invaluable in promoting sustainable tourism and climate action in Africa.”
The Africa Tourism Day Organizing Committee looks forward to continued collaboration with Africa Celebrates and other partners to advance the tourism industry in Africa.

Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum ATCAF is a thought leadership forum that convenes global leaders, regional organizations, industry practitioners, public and private sector stakeholders, advocates, institutions, civil society, players in sectors within the tourism and hospitality value chain, green entrepreneurs, development institutions, academia, women , youths, MSMEs, indigenous groups, communities, cities etc., to focalize climate action, climate equity and justice, sustainability, adaptation, mitigation, financing, regeneration, decarbonization, green development and transition in the tourism and hospitality industry.
It identifies trade as a vehicle for tourism development and puts forward discussions, solutions and pathways for green trade in tandem with climate smart tourism towards the sustainable development and economic transformation of African economies.
