Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation joins the global celebration of World Bicycle Day. The theme for this year is “Promoting Health, Equity, and Sustainability through Cycling.”

A landmark initiative by the foundation also celebrating the bicycle and its role in sustainability, is the Africa Netzero Climate Cycling Championship ANCCC which was launched during the Africa Tourism Climate Action Forum ATCAF in November, 2023.

The ANCCC seeks to create awareness about the devastating impacts of climate change and a carbon red economy and seeks to bring attention to villages, communities, cities advocating for policy making and governance that will be inclusive of sustainable transportation in urban development plans creating cycling trails and other cycling infrastructure to foster health, sustainability, accessibility and interconnectivity.

First commemorated at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on June 3, 2018, World Bicycle Day was developed by Professor Leszek Sibilski. It encourages people to stay fit and lead healthy lifestyles. Regular cycling, combined with a nutritious diet, can help prevent and manage various health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and mental illness.

Sayari Dunia Sustainable Tourism Foundation focuses on climate action, biodiversity conservation, energy transition, and green development. The foundation works at the intersection of tourism, trade, and sustainability, targeting women, youth, MSMEs, communities, and cities. Through advocacy programs and initiatives, Sayari Dunia supports Africa’s sustainable tourism development and climate action, aiming to accelerate the continent’s journey to net zero.

As the world celebrates World Bicycle Day today, we anticipate the 2024 edition of Africa Netzero Climate Cycling Championship ANCCC as sdstf continues to drive advocacy for sustainable transportation.
